What Happens When You Fast
Scriptures
Luke 4:1-2; Luke 5:33; Luke 5:37; Matthew 4:4; Mark 9:28-29
Jesus knew the importance of fasting. That is why before He started His public ministry He fasted by eating nothing for 40 days in the wilderness. He taught this principle to His disciples. That explains the reason why in the Acts of the apostles you read that the disciples were always fasting and praying. It gave them the edge to advance the Kingdom of God in the first century. Fasting makes us more sensitive to God’s presence and prepares us to receive the “new wine”. God’s word becomes more alive to us when we fast. Fasting is a powerful spiritual exercise you cannot afford to joke with as a child of God. Because it is the only means you can fight those fierce battles in your life, which have become a cycle. That is why Jesus said in Matthew 17:21; “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting”. In today’s sermon, Pastor Franklin exposes us to what happens when we decide to fast. Let us relax and open our hearts to catch the message as we listen.
Shalom and Peace to you.
