34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
John 13:34–35 (ESV)
Everyone needs friends who will accept them as they are and they walk together to fulfill Christ command to us “love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34). Unfortunately, I think many of us have rather regretted having some kind of friends in the past and even sworn never to make any friends. In today’s message Dr. Charles Stanley shares some details on the kind of friends we need in our lives as children of God. Proverbs 18:24 (NLT) tells us “There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” It is this kind of friend that we need; Genuine Christian friends. The David – Jonathan kind of friendship that continued even after Jonathan died. For David said in 2 Samuel 9:1, “Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” Genuine Christian friends overlook you flaws, personality, intellect level, resources, etc. and they rather are Sensitivity, Submissive, Sacrifice their pride and Share themselves by accepting you as you are and are ready to help you build yourself up. Let us now listen to Dr. Stanley.
Shalom and Peace to you.
