2026 FASTING AND PRAYERS THEME:
Seek: The Kingdom and Purpose (Matthew 6:33).
Proverbs 19:21 (ESV) tells us “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand”. We all make plans and new year resolutions that we hope to achieve by the closing of that new year. These plans and resolutions are great and wonderful. Our God is a planner and strategist, and it pleases Him if His children do the same. However, the question we want to ask ourselves is, do you know the purpose of God for your entire life? Do you know why you exist? Do you know where you came from and why you are here? Do you know where you go for, from here? These questions are linked to your purpose in life. Your destiny is linked to your purpose. As a child of God, the stories of Abraham and Sarah, Moses and others in the bible tell us how these personalities, tried to achieve purpose in their own ways but failed. However, when they began to align with the will of God for their lives, God’s purpose for them was fulfilled.
How then do we align ourselves to the purpose of God for our lives? Isaiah 55:6 states; "Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near". This is what our Father request of us. Simply seeking His face through Fasting and Prayers. It might seem like a ritual because you hear and read of other Christian denominations doing the same thing every year. Yes, brethren. It is better for the entire human race to engage in Fasting and Prayers not only at the beginning of the year, but more often, so that our world will be transformed. More so, our Father commands us to keep seeking Him. Therefore, we need to do that fervently. In Luke 5; Peter and his companions had been fishing all night and caught nothing. But Jesus told them, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch” (Luke 5:4 (NKJV)). You have been probably fishing in shallow waters for a long time, it is time to go much deeper in 2026. That is the game changer for us. Again, in Matthew 7:8, Jesus said “anyone who seeks, will find”. Therefore, throughout the year 2026, we want to commit ourselves to these three guiding purposes;
- Seek God and Understand His Ways:
In Matthew 6:33 (ESV) Jesus commands us; “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you”. We want to drift away from the old pattern of seeking other things before seeking God. What does it mean to seek the Kingdom of God, and where can we find this kingdom? This order of priority by Jesus has been misunderstood, and we seek to find the truth. Psalm 103:7 states that, Moses understood the "ways" of God (i.e. His character, laws, and divine nature) while the Israelites only knew God’s "acts" or miracles. Again, Jesus said, “you shall know the truth, and it shall set you free” (John 8:32). The truth can only come to you, if you seek it. Then, the Holy Spirit, will give you more revelations.
- Transformation of Heart and Mind:
At the beginning of His ministry, we read in Matthew 4:17 (ESV) that; From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”. The word ‘repent’, according to Greek translation, means renewal or transformation of one’s mind. This has nothing to do with sin. Jesus was telling the people, to renew their thinking, so that they can receive the good news message. He is still saying that to us today – “Repent”; (i.e. renew your minds). Many of us, have different perspectives and mindsets on scriptures, which are based on doctrinal theologies, instead of Kingdom theology or perspective. How do we shift from religious thinking to a kingdom mindset? For us to get a better perspective of the Kingdom mindset, we need to be ready to renew our hearts and minds. Jesus said in Mark 2:22 (NKJV); “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins”.
- Position ourselves for God’s Provision:
Numbers 23:19 (ESV); “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?”. Jesus’ order of priority according to Matthew 6:33 is that, when we have succeeded in seeking the Kingdom, and living according to God’s righteousness, everything we are seeking will be granted us. He wants us to know that, whatever we are running after has always been ours. But, we need the right mindset to receive them. Understanding Kingdom principles brings calmness in life. Because you will come to understand that you are just a custodian of every blessing that comes your way. Therefore, Kingdom Ambassadors are not attached to material possessions, because they know who is the source of all things. Psalm 46:10 (ESV); “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”.
This is why we want to give God our first 21-days. Surrender to Him all our plan and ask Him to direct our lives as He wants. We will go through a series of teachings on Kingdom theology, while we fast and pray. The purpose is to shift our mindset from a servant’s mindset to a sonship mindset. You are sons and daughters of your Father, the Most High God. Therefore, join us, let us reason together, pray and fast corporately.
