FASTING KILLS FEARS AND WORRIES
Mark 5:22-28
We all have moments of fears, worries and uncertainties about the future or when something happens. These fears make us to take radical decisions and draw our conclusions based on the situation. Unfortunately, we forget how powerful our Father is, and His ability to deliver us from anything. You are no different from even one of the most powerful Prophets in scripture, who had to run into hiding because of the threat of the woman named Jezebel. This was after that same Prophet had prayed down fire from heaven in a spiritual authority contest. So, don’t beat yourself when you feel fear. However, what you must not do, is allow that fear to over power and cripple you. Remember, that the bible is full of God’s promise telling us “Fear Not or don’t be afraid or don’t be dismayed”. God knows very well that when challenges popup, we will be afraid, that is why He spoke those words not just once, but several times. When you fast and pray, fear disappears and God fills that space with courage. Fear is a transferrable disease, therefore watch it and don’t allow other people to infest you with it. That is why when the message was brought to the Synagogue Official that your daughter had finally died, Jesus said to him, ‘fear not’. Your fasting and prayers will increase your faith and confidence in God to dispute any negative report or decision. Who has the final say in this world? It is only God.
Some years back, I used to pray that God should cancel and let any problems backfire. As I grew in my walk with God, I changed my prayers and asked God to give me the courage to go through challenges so that I will learn lessons from them and teach others. This is because I noticed that is how Jesus prayed in Luke 22:42 (NIV) that; “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done”. Note that, Jesus also felt fear when the moment of going to the cross came up. But God, gave him courage in the midst of fear when He prayed.
Therefore, in today’s sermon, Pastor Franklin tells us that just because something is dead doesn’t mean God is done. He says, do not make much ado about nothing because Jesus is everything. Only believe. God can heal, save, and help you with anything you’re worried about. You may walk through a trial, but you don’t have to walk in fear when Jesus is with you. Let us listen to the full sermon and believe God to walk us through any challenging moment.
