DAY 6: PRAYER FOCUS
SEEKING GOD’S BLESSING
“You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, as well as the produce of your land and the offspring of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and kneading bowl will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. “
Deuteronomy 28:3-6
The peace of the Lord to you. Today we seek God's blessings. Once again, I encourage you that you have started right by seeking God’s face with this 21-Days Fasting. If we want to enjoy the blessings of God, it begins with living the burden of the word of God. Many of us want to enjoy the blessings but without a burden. Precious metals like diamond, gold and others are not found just on the surfaces, when they are dug out, they also go through refinery, and we produce beautiful jewelry and ornaments out of them. There is a transition or transformation in getting them into those beautiful pieces of artifacts we see. Think of those who dig them out, refine them, and the artists or gold smiths who produce artifacts out of them. This is how we get to enjoy the blessings of God after we have also gone through the transition of burden.
As I was reflecting on these words God spoke to me and said. You are not the only one who traveled out of your country to seek greener pasture. But I tell you one thing, if you will seek my face and stay with me, I will bless you more than any of the others. Your blessings will outlive you – your children, grandchildren and generations after you will be blessed because you started this. God is saying the same thing to you this day. You have started right with Him and he will not fail you. “Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful” (2 Chronicles 20:20).
Abraham secured a generational blessing because of his OBEDIENCE and FAITH in God. What legacy are you living for your children? If I can pray today and serve God as well, I thank God for my mum who thought me how to go before God. Am also grateful to God some catholic priests and pastors whom mentor me from afar and challenge me to seek God above everything else. I also want to see my children live a consecrated life, seeking God’s face in whatever profession they choose. Then, the blessings will continue and outlive them as well. I don’t want to be like King Saul, for the blessings to live my home (1 Samuel 15).
Remember as we talk about blessings, there is also a curse for disobedience in the same Deuteronomy 28. Verses 15 following, lists a number of curses which will come on us if we choose to disobey God. I will leave you to read it for yourself and decide. But as Joshua said “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). Beloved, I pray you choose right today and enjoy the blessings of God, you and your household.
Shalom.
