DAY 13: PRAYER FOCUS
BELIEVING FOR DELIVERANCE
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;
Psalm 34:17–19 (NIV)
Over the years, I have meet people who are full of excuses. Am sure you have meet people like that before or you are one yourself. They come up with their problems and if you try to help them with a godly advice, they will revert back with reasons or excuse to why they cannot act. Some reasons are because of time, their schedule or something else. Brethren, deliverance comes to only those who acknowledge their afflictions, cry out to God and begin to walk in faith for a change. There is no Christian who doesn’t go through afflictions or challenges, but what differentiate between two Christians is the one who cries out to God and walk by faith. Our God is always there to deliver, only if you will do what today’s text tell us – cry out to Him.
“What’s keeping you from your goals? From fulfilling your purpose? Enough with the excuses! Enough with justifying failure in your life. If you want to be free, you can get free. If you want to change, you can change. If you want to be a better person, you can be a better person! If you want to have joy, you can have joy” (Jentezen Franklin).
There are many who gave reasons why they can’t join this 21-days prayer and fasting. Meanwhile you can see them afflicted with challenges. Some have also put barriers around them, that they will never attend other church’s programs or relate with Christians in other denominations. My brother, my sister, if you want to see more growth in your spiritual life, break these barriers around you and be led by the Holy Spirit. Grow your faith by listening and reading from other godly men of God. You know Paul said in Philippians 3:6-7 “I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done”. I call our actions “proud Christianity”. I used to be like that, until I humbled myself and broke those barriers around me and God opened my eyes.
As I encourage you to open up to receive the deliverance of God, I also want to remind you of what 1 John 4 tells us “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out.” May God deliver us this year 2025 from giving excuses, may he deliver us from any form of afflictions, may He deliver us from stumbling and also from troubles. Amen.
Shalom.
