DAY 11: PRAYER FOCUS
BELIEVING FOR THE LOST
“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Matthew 9:36–38 (NKJV)
Yesterday, at about 10pm, I spent hours on the phone with a brother who was deeply confused and troubled about his life. This brother new his bible passages well but was not applying it and therefore had a hard time believe the words of God. He also didn’t know how to begin the fast, spend time with God and shut the world down. After our call ended around 12 midnight, he was convinced he needed to shut the world down and begin to focus on God. I also meet another wonderful and hardworking woman (a mother of two) at work who had the impression smoking was good for her when she is stressed. I told her, that was a lie, she was only killing herself slowly by smoking and that I will show her what can help her de-stress – listening to Christian music, a sermon or reading your bible.
Brothers and sisters, there are many out there who are lost because they are believing the world and the lies of the devil. We are blessed because we have an opportunity to listen to the word of God and shape our lives according to that. God does not want any of his children to be lost as he said in John 3:17 “God did not send his Son into the world, in order to judge the world, but in order that the world may be saved through him.” As God is blessing you, he wants you to be a blessing on to the lost and suffering out there. Speak to them about Jesus, tell them how God loves them and wants to have a relationship with them. Every Christian is called to win souls for God, therefore, “if anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them” (James 4:17).
I will share with you a YouTube video from Pastor Javon Ruff of Free Chapel Spartanburg Campus titled “Vision for the Harvest”. He has been with Free Chapel for the past 22 years. I recall in one of his sermons he shared with us how he was saved to Christ by the help of Pastor Jentezen Franklin. He adopted him as a son in Christ and since that time he learnt to walk with God and have grown to be a successful Pastor himself of the same church. Brethren we can never turn our backs on people who need Jesus. There are many young people out there who are confused and think they know what life is all about. The system cannot correct them, it is Jesus alone they need to order their lives. So, instead of ignoring them when you see them drinking, smoking, disobey the elderly in public; speak to them about Jesus.
Shalom.
